“Being a Strong Mentor,” with Dirk Fleischman, DDS

In the first ever episode of The Future of Dentistry, Anne Duffy is joined by Dirk Fleischman, DDS. Dr. Fleischman is a mentor to many, and works to bridge the gap between experienced dental professionals, and future dental professionals.

Dr. Fleischman discusses the crossroads that set him on the path to dentistry, and his own mentors who have helped him along the way. Dr. Fleischman and Anne discuss what makes a strong relationship between a mentor and a mentee, and how to seek out a good mentor. Additionally, they discuss the importance of knowing whether one’s skills are best used to own a dental practice, or to support the owner of the practice. They also explain that a key asset of dentistry is connection with peers, because after all, “If you don’t schmooze, you lose.”
